CELTIC has been linked with a move for Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas over the weekend as the bhoys recruitment team look to try and fill the void which will be left in May after boyata and Benkovic leave the building.

The two players will not be at Parkhead beyond the summer with Filip heading back to Leicester on loan to reunite with former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers and Dedryck getting set to quit the club on a free to move elsewhere.

Kristoffer Ajer has been getting a run in the team and has stepped up in the past month but come the summer, defenders will be thin on the ground.

Tomas Kalas, 25, currently on loan at Bristol City has been tearing it up in the Championship with the English club on what is the Czech’s SEVENTH loan move of his career since joining Chelsea as a 16-year-old.

The player has a contract until 2021, but it’s thought the defender could move on this summer. Celtic have been reportedly watching the big man BUT Bristol City believe they can land Kalas on a full-time deal in the summer if they managed promotion to the Premier League.

The club is just a point out the playoff places, and it would take a monumental effort for City to gain promotion. If they did, they’d be able to blow Celtic out the water with a fee as well as wages. Right now, Celtic are still very much in the running should City stay in the second tier.

Transfer Markt currently has the player’s transfer valuation sitting at £3.6million – If Celtic could land Tomas for in the region of that amount, it could be a fantastic buy.
