CELTIC are ‘hours’ away from signing Borussia Dortmund defender Jeremy Toljan according to reports in Germany today.

Fussball Transfers believe the club is close to signing the German right back on an initial loan deal with an option to buy in the summer.

News broke yesterday Celtic had been ‘exploring’ a deal for the out of favour £6million defender with many fans hoping this would lead to something.

If these reports are accurate, Celtic are set to cap off a very positive transfer window by trying to find a solution for their right back issues, and there would be minimal risk involved with a loan deal, but it would make sense for the club to have an option to buy.

Jeremy has made 23 appearances for Dortmund since moving from Hoffenheim in 2017; the 24-year-old has found himself on the outside looking in under the new regime with many in German football believing the right-back has been very unlucky since joining Dortmund.

Fingers crossed Celtic can get this over the line.

  1. So far, with regards the Toljan rumours, I’ve seen we’re getting him on loan with option to buy in the summer as well as many saying we’re getting him but don’t have the option to buy. No wonder there are so many rumours going about. As he seems to be frozen out in Germany I’d think we would have option to buy. I really never worry when these loanees come about as I’d like to see them play with their fellow team-mates and see that they are the right option. There would be so many fans in up-roar if we paid £6m for him then found he wasn’t right or good enough for us. At least this way the backroom staff all get to see what he can produce and bring to the club, then buy him if it’s the right move. We have had some poor choices which have remained on the books for years and have stopped us getting new players in. Think this is good way to go. Fully expect that some, if not all (except Timo) the loan players will be full Celts during the summer break.
