CELTIC are set to send highly-rated Scott Robertson out on loan down south a week after the player signed a new three-year deal with the club.

According to RecordSport, Robertson will join up with Gillingham and fight for a first-team place with the English side.

The best way for young players at Celtic to get proper experience is to go out on loan because the reserve and youth scene is non-existent.

A lot of young players have fallen by the wayside in recent years without proper opportunities to thrive.

Robertson is thought of highly at Celtic and has the potential to make an impact at Celtic in the future.

Neil Lennon can be rather slow at bringing young players through, his first spell at the club showing he went with first-team stars more often than not. You have to strike the balance between experience and youth. Jeremie Frimpong is an example of an excellent talent making a splash, but others like Ewan Henderson and Karamoko Dembele are still waiting for a proper chance under the Irishman.
