BRENDAN RODGERS has told Celtic fans that Peter Lawwell has been tasked with reaching a permanent deal for Osdonne Edouard in the coming weeks.

The Irishman has shown his hand with regards to his loan star striker and sees him as a natural successor to Moussa Dembele should he move on this summer.

“It’s up to the clubs. The club will meet with PSG and say where we can take it.” admitted Rodgers.

“Odsonne is a top talent. If you look at him, we brought him in for a reason. He’s developed and grown over the season. This is a wonderful place to continue that education.

Osdonne has been patient all season and got games here and there but the player looks to have stepped up to the plate in the past month.

His goals at Ibrox and Celtic Park have propelled the player to cult status among the support and is affectionately known as ‘French Eddie’.

Rodgers has had a season to have a look at the striker and admits he’s loved having Eddie.

“I have said all along, and I know there were question marks about him, that Odsonne has everything.

“He needs an education and has a way to go but he’s a top talent.”

The club is hopeful of concluding a deal and want Edouard signed up for the next four years.
