According to reports, Celtic were willing to do a money plus player swap deal to land Greg Taylor before the window closed.

RecordSport claim Celtic inquired about the player’s price on Friday last week but weren’t happy with what they got back from Kilmarnock.

The report reads: “The champions were prepared to pay around £1 million and also give players on-loan, including Jack Hendry, but Killie are looking for substantially more.”

It stands to reason Kilmarnock want to hold out for as much money as possible. Especially when you take into account Celtic’s sale of Kieran Tierney.

The Scottish Champions might believe they are being made to pay a premium that other clubs wouldn’t have had to pay.

Ultimately, Kilmarnock don’t have to sell their player if they don’t get what they’re looking for. Celtic are finding it increasingly difficult to pick up bargains in the SPFL.

The window closes in six days and Neil Lennon told fans at the weekend he expected one or two in by Monday or Tuesday. Is there a deal to be done?

Any player brought in now will not be eligible to play Thursday in Sweden but could fly out with the squad to train and bed in before Sunday.
