Earlier this evening the reports that Tommy Smith leaving the Huddersfield camp to sign for another club were correct but according to reports this evening, it WON’T be to Celtic.
Reports online claim the defender is off to sign for Stoke. Rumours have been rife online among Stokes fans tonight that they’ve managed to get a deal done for the Huddersfield player.
It appears Tommy Smith must of like what he saw when he visited Claytonwood last week.
Chopper from the oatcake is saying he’s back in tomorrow to finalise a deal with Stoke.

This was followed up by Scottish football journalist Michael Gannon leaving no room for ambiguity when he posted the message about Smith’s Celtic status.
Rumours aplenty but Tommy Smith won’t be signing for Celtic.
He’s close to agreeing a deal with Stoke, likely to be competed tomorrow.— Michael Gannon (@MichaelGannon) July 10, 2019
If this is true then Celtic are rolling into another weekend without a first team right back. Kristofer Ajer played in the position against Sarajevo but playing the Norwegian out of position would be criminal.
Celtic have a summer ahead of recruitment and you have to imagine if Smith isn’t coming in, he’s currently looking for a first team right back.
