It may still seem like a long way off but Celtic will do battle with Zenit St Petersburg in just over a month.
With Celtic on their winter break and Zenit on their three-month winter shutdown that runs past the Europa League ties, there’s some hope that Celtic could capitalise on a rusty Zenit.
However, there may be another reason brewing for a less than 100% Zenit as current boss Roberto Mancini refused to rule himself out of the running for the Italy job.
The Italians, who failed to qualify for a major tournament for the first time in 60 years are looking for a new first team coach and Roberto would not dismiss the talk.
When asked if he would take the job if offered Mancini replied.
“I absolutely do not exclude coaching Italy. I think like other coaches – you can never exclude anything.”
He added: “My experience in Russia is going. We started well, then had a difficult spell and we’ll restart the league in second place. We hope to make up ground on Lokomotiv.”
Could there be a change before next months game.
