Journalist David Friel who has the ear of someone within Celtic Park claims Celtic star Jota is struggling with an injury ahead of the Motherwell tie on Saturday.
The Portuguese winger was missing from the squad against Kilmarnock last weekend. The Celtic manager putting it down to resting some players and taking precautions on the less than ideal Kilmarnock synthetic surface.
However, as we approach the final game before the SPFL split, Jota might be sitting out this tie as well if Friel’s Sunsport report is correct.
Jota hasn’t played since scoring the winning goal in the Glasgow Derby when he latched onto a poor backpass from John Souttar and beat veteran goalkeeper Alan McGregor to the ball, slotting it into the back of the net.
The semi-final against our Glasgow rivals is driving most Celtic supporters thoughts. If Jota news more rest ahead of the Hampden tie, you won’t find a Celtic fan who will want to see him risked against the Steelmen.
Celtic are closing in on the SPFL title, and a win against Motherwell will bring them closer. However, it’s a matter of when we win the tile now and we have the squad depth to protect our top players between now and the end of the season.
