If some Celtic fans were looking forward to seeing what Karamoko Dembele could do in the first team, it could just be a pipe dream after the latest reports from inside Celtic Park.
The youngster has not been used by Neil Lennon this season and the Irishman looks nowhere near ready to put Karomoko in, even as a late sub.
According to reports from The Athletic, there’s a big disappointment behind the scenes in the player’s hunger and application.
They report “many people involved at the club are a little disappointed with the Dembele situation”.
They also note that Celtic chiefs feel he is “clearly has exceptional talent, but there have been concerns about his physical development” along with “worries over his application and attitude”.
There were rumours abound this summer the youngster came back from lockdown in worse shape than Leigh Griffiths. This could be confirmed the backroom team aren’t happy with the talented winger’s attitude.
Many expected to see Karamoko in the squad this season, being used in cup games and as a late substitute to get him used to first team action. With the pressure on the team, the management and the board, even if things were going great he’d struggle for a place.
Dembele’s contract is up this summer and we wouldn’t be surprised if he goes elsewhere.
The club would be due a youth development fee from any club who took him but that would be pennies.
We really need to ask why we’re letting such a talented player fade away. Our youth set up is a joke at the moment with no real games or proper route to the first team for any of the young aspiring players.
Let him go if there is any truth in this, he’ll end up just like Furez.we have enough 1st team squad with bad attitudes who should also be shown the door.
