Oli Abildgaard has officially left the building and joined Hellas Verona for the remainder of the season.

The midfielder was on a one-year deal at Celtic after his contract with Rubin Kazan was frozen by FIFA due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

He’s only lasted six months and made a smattering of substitute appearances for the club since coming in.

It was reported earlier on deadline day that the player could look to move on, which was the case. Abildgaard has joined Hellas Verona in Serie A and will get to work with the Italian side straight away.

While he wasn’t around or played enough football to have made an impression with the Celtic support, they certainly made an impression on Oli, and he wanted to thank the fans and the club for his short stay in Glasgow.

VIA OLI’S INSTAGRAM: It all comes to an end, before it even started. Despite my short period of time in the club, I have witnessed the truly special atmosphere at paradise, the incredible support from our fans and the beautiful values this club is based on. I want to express my gratitude to @celticfc for, amongst other things, getting me back on track physically and fully fit to start my next adventure. Thanks for all the beautiful memories you have given me. That I will carry with me forever. I wish all the best of luck to everyone connected to the club.

Can’t wait to get started in @hellasveronafc.

Oli seemed like a good lad, but it hasn’t worked out. Sometimes these things happen in football.

Good luck to the Dane.
