Ange Postecoglou must find a left back solution that allows him to rest Anthony Ralston and give Juranovic his preferred spot in the side.

We have so many options at left-back, even with Greg Taylor out at the moment. Ange has opted to play his right back signing at left back and while he’s doing alright in the role, it’s clear to see he isn’t in his proper position.

The Croatian can be explosive under the tight circumstances and needs the chance to show what he can do.

Liam Scales is untested, Adam Montgomery is young but already has had some decent experience and Boli Bolingoli could certainly play a role – just not in Europe [he wasn’t selected]. Ange’s lack of trust in the three is certainly a worry.

We have Ferencvaros on Thursday. If Starfelt doesn’t make it, we’re likely going to have Nir Bitton at the back and a right back at left back for the away day. It’s not ideal.

Welsh could come in as a centre-back freeing Nir to play in the midfield in Rogic’s absence once again. But you can see how a couple of injuries totally throws this squad off. We need better options, and strength in depth must be on the agenda in January.
