In the summer, it felt like anyone in the squad could potentially make the breakthrough and become an unlikely star. As it transpires, Anthony Ralston was that guy and it wasn’t any of the new bhoys Celtic had brought in from Sheffield Wednesday.

Liam Shaw and Osaze Uroghide came in back in the summer and given Celtic’s lack of depth, it was thought we could see a lot of one, if not both.

It’s turned out not to be the case and both players are in the Celtic blind spot. Not good enough for the first team squad yet but too old to play in the Lowland League with the Colt side.

These reasons should see both head out on loan in January in pursuit of first team football. Liam will be wondering if signing a pre-contract agreement with the club when he was getting first team football with Sheffield Wednesday was the best move at this point.

It will be up to the club and Liam to find a solution and get him some vital game time.

If we were in charge of sending Celtic players out on loan, we’d look to loan Liam out to an SPFL club if possible. Getting game time while better understanding the league would be beneficial.

Sources close to the club have claimed Uroghide is a long way from the first team. He has it all to prove, but it can be done; Anthony Ralston is proof of that.
