Saturday was a bad day at the office for all of those involved with Celtic and it has gotten even worse for two former the players of the club.

Stuart Armstrong and Mohamed Elyounoussi, who combined made over 200 appearances for the Hoops registering 90 goal contributions put together, were both relegated with Southampton on Saturday.

The Saints lost 2-0 at home to Fulham as goals from striking duo Vinicius and Aleksandr Mitrovic condoned Ruben Selles’ side to Championship football for next season.

Going forward, it will be intriguing to see where the futures of Armstrong and Elyounoussi lie.

It is doubtful they will want to play their football in the second tier of England in 2023/24 thus they may hunt for an escape route.

At 31 and 28 years of age respectively, Armstrong and Elyounoussi are by no means spring chickens and may not want to be spending their prime years turning out for a Championship club.
