Neil Lennon has spoken of his pride at seeing two of his former Celtic players booking their place in the Champions League Final this week.

Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk and Tottenham’s Victor Wanyama will go up against one another at the start of June with one of them going to be a Champions League winner by the end of it.

Both players were signed under Neil Lennon as young lads and they have gone on to have top careers and the Champions League final will be the pinnacle. For van Dijk this will be his second final in a row while this will be Victor’s first.

Speaking to Celtic TV, Neil Lennon was full of praise for both men.

“Two outstanding talents, under my time here they were fantastic players

“Virgil went on to play under Ronny and did very well.

“We got them at a young age and we take a lot of pride in developing them and helping turn them into the players they are. It will be a fascinating final, I’m very proud of both of them”

Both men went for decent money when they moved on from Celtic with the club also getting a cut of Virgil’s record-breaking fee which took the Dutchman from Southampton to Liverpool.

It’s crazy to think both were in the Hoops not so long ago.
