CELTIC are looking to beat the odds this evening and get a win on German soil. After a defeat and a draw so far in the Champions League group stages, a win would put Celtic in the mix.

Starting XI: Hart; Juranovic, Welsh, Jenz, Taylor; McGregor (C), Hatate, O’Riley; Maeda, Kyogo, Jota

Subs: Bain, Siegrist, Ralston, Bernabei, McCarthy, Abildgaard, Robertson, Forrest, Haksabanovic, Giakoumakis

There aren’t any huge surprises in the starting XI, given our two key defenders are injured, Jenz and Welsh take their place.

The story is more on the bench than the starting XI. We have two goalkeepers in the squad to make up the numbers, Scott Robertson finds himself in an Ange Postecoglou squad for the first time this season and Giakoumakis has made it after suffering an injury on international duty.

Giakoumakis being back in the squad is huge. It gives Ange the ability to change things up a bit more up top if it isn’t working. One person missing is David Turnbull, the midfielder played at the weekend after recovering from an injury but hasn’t made the squad. Given there are two sub goalkeepers, you have to assume the midfielder has picked up a knock.

The Maeda or Abada debate was put on ice due to Liel being out for religious reasons. The Japanese midfielder will be tasked with defending from the front.

Celtic will need to be at the top of their game and have a bit of luck on the night to grab a victory. Fingers crossed.
