It has been revealed Scott Brown has been playing with a broken toe without even knowing it according to sources.

The Celtic captain has been getting on with it over the past month without realising the extent of his injury which is crazy!

A RecordSport source confirmed the injury: “Broonie didn’t even realise he was playing with a broken toe but that’s typical of the guy.

“Now it’s just about waiting to see the results of the scan to determine the extent of the damage.

“There’s obviously a fear that he could be out of the cup final but knowing him, he won’t let a wee thing like a broken toe stop him from playing at Hampden. You’re talking about a man from Fife here!”

Scott Brown will be a pivotal part of Neil Lennon’s cup final plans and the manager will be holding his breath to find out if the damage means Brown will miss the Hearts game.

Knowing Scott Brown the way we do, if he’s been playing with this injury for quite some time he’s likely to ask to play on with it and get it sorted and strapped up at the end of the season.

Celtic were already facing FIVE players out for trophy day but Scott Brown could make it six if Lennon decides the player should rest until the final.

Hearts visit Celtic Park on Sunday hoping to spoil the party and lay down a marker for the cup final. It will be up to whatever team Lennon puts out to try and stop them from gaining any sort of momentum.
