Celtic’s UEFA Champions League campaign continues on Wednesday evening as Club Brugge come to Glasgow’s east end.
The Hoops are rightly confident as we approach matchday five of the league phase, having accumulated seven points from their opening four fixtures.
Borussia Dortmund aside, the Bhoys have been near-on terrific in Europe this campaign.
Next up, a different kind of test lies in wait in the form of Belgian champions Brugge.
Wins away to Sturm Graz and at home to Aston Villa have helped them amass six points from their first four league phase matches. It took Borussia Dortmund until the 76th minute to unlock them, too, with a sending-off away at Milan not helping Nicky Hayen’s men, either.
After a 7-0 thumping of St. Truiden on Saturday, they go into Wednesday quietly confident.
For the match, UEFA have recently confirmed the officials.
Bulgarian Georgi Kabakov is the referee. He has taken charge of Celtic once in his career, reffing a 3-0 win for the Bhoys at home to FK Suduva in the second leg of a Europa League play-off in 2018. Leight Griffiths, Callum McGregor, and Kristoffer Ajer scored that night.
His assistants are fellow countrymen Martin Margaritov and Diyan Valkov. Dragomir Dragano is on VAR, assisted by German Christian Dingert.
Referee Kabakov has only taken charge of seven Champions League matches in his career to date. Fans will hope his slight lack of experience at the elite level doesn’t negatively impact proceedings on Wednesday.
