It has been nothing short of a shambles since Friday night when the Czech Republic posted an official communication saying the Scotland game was off. However, while the countries FA were left in no doubt they couldn’t fulfil the fixture, UEFA got on the phone and threatened the country with all sorts of sanctions at financial penalties according to RecordSport.

This has left the Czech Republic FA scrambling to put a side together for the game against Scotland, it will be comprised of young stars and just two previously capped players. The country did not want to take the chance playing their top stars when the virus has been confirmed in their midst and thought the best course of action was to kill the game dead.

Scotland along with their Celtic stars; Ryan Christie, James Forrest, Callum McGregor and Greg Taylor are in the Czech Republic where things are tense. The game going ahead and putting all Scotland players in the firing line when it comes to the virus is nothing short of incredible but it shows you the mindset of UEFA, it’s all about money. TV obligations and financial penalties they would incur from sponsors etc is not worth thinking about as far as they’re concerned.

The fact the Czechs don’t feel comfortable with the scenario and our players going to a place where numbers are on the rise, it could have a profound effect on our domestic season if anyone was to become positive.

UEFA are not putting players best interests at the top of their agenda.
