UEFA has announced that Tottenham’s match against Rennes can not go ahead and has referred the situation to the Ethics and Disciplinary Body to find a solution. Sitting third n their group, Spurs would have needed a win to progress to the next round of the competition.

In accordance with the rules, Spurs may be forced to forfeit the match, gifting the 3-0 win to the French side meaning the Premier League club will be eliminated. It is worth noting this is not confirmed but is the probable outcome.

Celtic now face the possibility of avoiding Spurs in the Knockout Round Play-Offs and then deeper in the competition, if they are to progress.  Celtic could now face one of the following teams;

Bodo/Glimt, Maccabi Tel-Aviv, PAOK, Partizan Belgrade, Qarabag, Randers, Salvia Praha or Vitesse.

The Conference League is a great opportunity for Celtic to push for a European trophy, albeit at the lowest level.

I do believe that Celtic are capable of beating Spurs, but the fewer so-called ‘big’ teams the better the chances of success.
