Whilst the football world has been going crazy over the past day or so over the so-called Super League, UEFA has announced changes that will take place within their own European competitions from the 2024/25 season.

A brilliant thread produced by Moravcik67 on Twitter, who provides all the up to news when it comes to Celtic and their involvement in Europe, shows the sort of changes that have been announced by UEFA.

The number of teams competing in the competition, have been put up to 36. In a similar fashion to the European Super League, the format has also been changed so that sides play 10 games against different sides.

After those games, the top eight will qualify for the knockout stages and from 9th-24th position, they will playout for the remaining eight places in the round of 16.

The increase in the number of teams is ultimately to allow these bigger sides another route into the competition, pretty much guaranteeing their place in the top European competitions every season.

As well as the Champions League, both the Europa League and new Conference league will be changing formats from the 24/25 season with a similar league system being put in place but with just the 32 teams.

It is clear that a change to the game is coming and has been for years with this competition becoming more and more difficult for sides such as Celtic to qualify for.

Now, it feels like it is moving to a new level of this with not only the European Super League but also UEFA. Attempting to pander to the big money teams in the continent.
