A meeting is set to take place this month which will have a huge bearing on Celtic’s recruitment policy over the summer.

UEFA are set to meet to discuss both the Champions and Europa League – this will encompass how they finish the 19/20 tournaments, but vitally for Celtic, how they work qualifiers and entry into next seasons competitions.

According to the Mail on Sunday reports (31/05 print edition, page 147), UEFA will meet June 17th to thrash out plans going forward.

Celtic, like every other club, are having to cut their cloth and watch what they’re spending. With no gate receipts for a while and the prospect of no fans through the door for the rest of this year and perhaps beyond, they will have to know if a Champions league bounty could still be on the table.

The Scottish Champions have had to play four qualifiers in recent years but there are a number of measures being discussed that could see Celtic play fewer games in order to reach the Champions League.
