It’s being reported both Glasgow clubs will be given the option to postpone their next Champions League fixture after the death of Queen Elizabeth this week.

The longest reigning monarch passed away on Thursday afternoon and the UK are now in an official ten days of mourning.

The Glasgow Times reports Celtic will be given the option to postpone the Shakhtar game on Wednesday, rather than it be a mandatory postponement — but UEFA has yet to instruct either Glasgow club.

Daily Mail correspondent Mike Keegan has branded it inconceivable EPL games would go ahead this weekend on social media, and it’s expected the SPFL will be shutdown.

We’ve yet to receive confirmation, but it’s expected soon.

The World Cup half way through the season has already caused a fixture jam, this will further add to that problem, especially if more than one of our games are postponed.

Celtic are playing a Ukrainian side in the Champions League — a country at war with Russia. I’d hope if it was Celtic’s choice to play the game on Wednesday, they would do so.

  1. Why would we postpone a game of football over an old woman none of us knew personally passing away; it must happen dailly across the country and nobody bats an eye bar their close family and friends, but in this instance because she happened to be born into fame in a mock position of some type of overlord, we’re all supposed to act like its a personal loss!?

Condolences to her family and close friends, but that’s where it should stop

  2. Why would this game be postponed? Forget about the politics of it and the particular circumstances of Glasgow football, why should football be cancelled, especially European games. I am sure the Ukrainians have more to concern themselves with than British people. The professional mourning in Britain verges on the mawkish. And the fascism associated with it is horrible. We are all supposed to feel the same, we are all supposed to think the same. Social control. Anyone’s death should be respected but life needs to go on. I mean the monarchy goes on and swiftly. Charles becomes king straight away, no real mourning period but a football game has to be cancelled a week later in a different country. Get a grip. Also this is the death of a 96 year old woman. Yes, an icon of the past century but it is hardly a shock when a 96 year old dies. Lord above.

  3. Are those in power and benefit the ruling class system trying to make us believe all this Royal shit.
Time for a total revolution and this could be the start, we have been conned into this financial crisis, does not exist just organisations getting richer
Time for a stand against these Tory greedy bustards that think Scots are total shit

  4. Fitbaw is much bigger than life, death or anything else. The show must go on. What a load of donkey donuts.

Why don’t they paint all towns and cities statues and walls black!!!

She will have her Nazi funeral. The death Star will all be saluting her in their own Nazi straight arm way.

Squads and fans, can applaud her timely death for a minute (if they choose to) and then play the nation’s favourite sport.

Just wear dark armbands (if you choose too) one less royal pensioner on the bru for your taxes to pay for.
At least Charley and the duchess of mutton will get a emergency loan for a pair of new suit’s.
