BRENDAN RODGERS does not have his troubles to seek when it comes to players missing from his matchday squad. Celtic still have a lot of talent at their disposal, but some of the current crop who cannot play for several different reasons are big game players on their day.

Celtic welcome St Mirren to Parkhead this evening hoping for three points to get their first SPFL game of 2019 off to the best possible start. However, they won’t be able to call upon NINE players who could all state their case for a first-team start if they were fit and available.

Here is the rundown.

Anthony Ralston (doubt – ankle injury) Olivier Ntcham (hamstring) and Odsonne Edouard (knock) Kieran Tierney (hip issue) Tom Rogic (international duty), Leigh Griffiths (personal issues)

Eboue Kouassi and Daniel Arzani (long-term knee injuries)

New signing Vakoun Issouf Bayo is still ineligible at this moment in time while his paperwork is finalised.

Edouard is back in training, but this game comes too early for him, Timo Weah might get his full debut against the Buddies after coming on to score against Airdrie at the weekend.

There’s no doubt Celtic can cope with these injuries and missing players, but it’s a hard task for any manager who cannot call on his best available talent.
