Celtic fell short of a victory on Tuesday night at Celtic Park, taking only a point against Shakhtar. The Hoops had a great first half but struggled to find their rhythm in the second.

Both sides had chances to win the game after Mudryk cancelled out Giakoumakis’ goal with a stunning strike. The best chance fell to Shakhtar though and the miss will go down as perhaps one of the biggest misses in Celtic Park history.

An open goal, yards outs and the Shakhtar player tried to control it before ultimately seeing it slide past the post. It was a moment Celtic fans couldn’t believe.

Despite getting that huge slice of luck, Celtic couldn’t get the winner, even though they pushed as the game wore on.

Some chances fell the bhoys way, but it was ultimately in vain. Skakhtar were happy with the point and Celtic are out of European competition until next season.

It’s been a huge learning curve for this side, but the story of our campaign has been missed chances.

  1. No sour grapes against Shaktar very competent team but Celtic lost a replica goal as to the one scored by Madrid and the same player caught out once again.Thought we were supposed to learn from our mistakes, dont think we would have lost that goal had Ralston been playing and still we persist to play across the park and backwards and seem to have lost all pace up front. Obviously Shaktars scout sussed out Celtic’s weaknesses and exploited them.

  2. Story of the campaign. No good enough. Plain and simple. Can’t make a simple pass or keep the ball. This will result in getting found out every time. Get away with it in Scotland.

  3. Don’t forget this is a young team playing at a different level so let’s hope they enjoyed the experience and will become better players for it, Onwards and upwards!! Hail! Hail!
