TOMMY SMITH was reported to have left Huddersfield’s Austria camp last night with many speculating Celtic was his destination before reports came in that Stoke was club who had a bid accepted.
The Examiner now reports the player has NOT left the Huddersfield training camp and didn’t play in their friendly in case he suffered injury with a move looming.
Celtic have been in the market for a right back since last season and Tommy fit the bill. There’s no telling where he’ll end up at the moment but RecordSport are pretty adamant it won’t be to The Scottish Champions.
If that is the case then you would have to believe the club are already working on other targets. Celtic played Kristoffer Ajer at right back against Sarajevo but the further the bhoys get into the qualifiers the more they will need someone in who is a natural in the position.
So the current state of play is Tommy hasn’t left the Huddersfield camp yet.
