BRENDAN RODGERS has been criticised for his team’s performance in Europe over his Celtic tenure over his clear philosophy of alway playing from the back and refusing to change it up to get a result against a particular opponent.

What makes Brendan Rodgers so successful domestically is his Achilles heel in Europe. The Irishman’s insistence in his current system which needs players to press and build from the back is predictable and not as easy to execute against tougher opposition.

We have seen this against Salzburg and Valencia this season; we even saw Celtic get immediate joy against Rosenborg at home in the group stage when they went route one with Boyata staying up top.

As the bhoys prepare to seemingly take their last steps in Europ for another season barring a minor miracle, the Valencia boss has given the Celtic boss a veiled dig about his system.

While it may sound like the Valencia manager is showing respect here – Marcelino is basically saying, we know how Celtic are going to play and we know how to counteract it. They did so at Parkhead, so unless Rodgers has a radical change in philosophy, Valencia knows what’s coming.

  1. They think they KNOW what’s coming?? Yes Brendan will have the team set up to play out from the back with the high intensity pressing tacticts he likes us tlo adopt.Maybe the only difference this time may be that we play much better, than we did last week and they don’t,maybe? T hen again Brendan might throw a big bag of spanners in the works, and give Bayo his debut and play the long ball which would take them by surprise.Bayo has scored a barrowlad of goals in Croatia with his head.
