We have been keeping a close eye on Valencia for the past few weeks for obvious reasons. If you think Celtic have had a Jeykl & Hyde season, Valencia could give them a run for their money.

Last night they showed their Jeykl & Hyde in 90 minutes. They looked a very scary prospect last night at the Camp Nou when they went two goals up against the La Liga leaders inside of thirty minutes. Kevin Gamerio put the visitors in front inside the first quarter, the “Els Taronges” went into dreamland when Dani Parejo converted from the spot to give the visitors a 2-0 lead. (continues below…)

Barca has conceded plenty of goals this season but they have been seldom down by two goals at home. Valencia have drawn more games than any other La Liga side this season which has kept them stuck mid-table. True to form they quickly surrendered their two-goal lead. Magic man Messi scored a brace to put the sides level.

Week on week Valencia offer encouraging signs to Celtic but also flash some warnings in equal measure. They have had on and off-field problems this season and Celtic fans will be hoping that they have a few more before Valentine’s day. Either way, Brendan Rodgers men will need to be 100% on their game over two legs to progress any further in Europe.
