CHRIS SUTTON has claimed Ange Postecoglou must quickly assess Odsonne Edouard’s state of mind ahead of vital Champions League qualifiers.

Most people, including Chris Sutton, believe Edouard’s time at Celtic is coming to an end. However, until a sufficient bid is made for the French striker, he remains a Celtic player and available for selection.

Eddy was Celtic’s top goalscorer last season but he never really got going. Many fans put that down to the player’s desire to leave the club as early as last summer.

If Edouard has his mind on a move away and will be cautious when playing first team football with Celtic, Sutton believes Eddy is best left behind by the new manager.

The former Celtic striker warned about the disharmony if Eddy is training and playing like a man who wants out.

Writing in his RecordSport column at the weekend, the BT Pundit said:

‘If Postecoglou doesn’t feel Edouard’s mind is on the job or he’s thinking about his move away, he shouldn’t have him within 100 miles of the training camp in Wales.

‘Other players can sense it. They can smell it. They know if someone wants out and it can have a negative effect on the group. Very damaging.’

Ange has a lot of different decisions to make. Omitting a top class player will not be easy but if the player’s head is not in the game, he has to be ruthless.
