HUGH KEEVINS of Clyde 1 has claimed that Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic had to change their style of play and tactics in order to get three points in Aberdeen.

It was noticeable that – especially in the second half – Postecoglou’s men were not playing their usual high press when off the ball. On the ball, the full-backs were still inverted and an attacking mentality was shown to eventually find a winning goal.

Speaking on Sunday’s edition of Clyde 1 Suber Score Board, the columnist said;

“Every Celtic supporter who was either up at Pittodrie or watching on television or listening to Superscoreboard. All that mattered was a win.

“And that win has been achieved. And in places achieved with some style, the winning goal is as good a goal as you’ll see.

“And it just means that Ange Postecoglou can breathe again.

“Celtic will have other games in the month of October that will test them to the full.

“But he has avoided, what ever you want to call it, but for the remainder of this day and this weekend he’s avoided any chaos or any mayhem or any ill feeling, and he has compromised his principles to an extent.

“I think he has recognised what people have been saying about his team, his formation its tactics, and he has compromised and Celtic were all the better for it.” [VitalCeltic]

Whether the change in style was because the Celtic boss opted to start Nir Bitton ahead of Tom Rogic is not known.

The bottom line was, Celtic left Pittodrie with a much needed away win, the hard-fought points will boost the confidence levels in the changing rooms and give optimism that the Hoops have now turned the corner and fans will not have to wait another eight months for another away win.

  1. Since when do we listen to what Ned Flanders has got to say about anything? Soup taker and pot stirrer, no more no less.
    I was told last week I was talking ‘pish’ when I said Tam Rogic wasn’t a 90min man and was better coming off the bench when we were maybe struggling a bit at a 1-1 draw.
    At least we know now Big Ange reads CELTS ARE HERE!!
