Footballer turned radio personality and pundit Noel Whelan has tipped Celtic to sign Victor Wanyama in January with the midfielder’s Spurs career looking dead in the water.

Speaking to football insider, the former player believes it makes total sense for the Kenyan to make his way back to Celtic Park – even if it’s just on-loan initially.

Neil Lennon mentioned in passing he did try and sign Victor during the summer window but the deal never got off the ground at the time. After a failed move to Club Brugge, Victor must be weighing up his options.

Spurs have had a horrible start to the season and maybe the midfielder is looking for a reprieve to revive the London clubs season.

Other than, like Whelan says – a deal to bring him back to Celtic would make sense for both parties.

“It looks like Wanyama’s Tottenham career is coming to an end,” Whelan told Football Insider. “He’s had a lot of injury problems in the last few years and he can’t get in the team.

“No player can be happy not playing. He’ll want to get his career back on track and a move to Celtic on loan makes total sense.

“He knows the club really well, he knows Neil Lennon thinks the world of him and he would be playing regularly. I can see him joining in January, definitely.”

Most Celtic fans would be delighted to see Victor follow in the footsteps of of Fraser Forster and make his way back to the club. Surely Neil Lennon will ask the question in January.
