CALLUM MCGREGOR took on the media duties after returning from injury on a night where Celtic were thumped by Bayer Leverkusen.

The midfielder has just recently signed a five-year deal with the Hoops and would have loved to have celebrated the occasion with a win, but it wasn’t to be.

Celtic had chances but the Bundesliga side and their goalkeeper held firm. Despite the things we did create, it was evident Bayer were on a different level to Celtic.

That doesn’t disqualify Celtic from winning the tie, we have beaten stronger teams at home in Europe over the years but we just don’t have the personnel or structure at the minute to be a competitive side against a team in a top five league.

The Celtic captain branded was obviously disappointed. One thing he did say that will not really resonate with fans is ‘we need to learn from this’. It’s a comment we’ve been hearing for the past 18 months.

There’s a lot of learning going on but not enough winning.

Ange is up against it with the cards he’s been dealt with at this point. There’s a team in there somewhere, we need another window and some well scouted players to make the difference.

  1. Back to the team we need 3 across the back at all times when RB and LB push forward we need a big CH to fill the giant whole in the middle when we push forward our RH and LH are so far apart from each other and can not cover that ground that is the big problem we need a big CH in now we miss Jullien to sit in middle and close that whole with 3 along the back line.
