CALLUM MCGREGOR looks set to lead HIS Celtic team to the league title in the coming weeks. A sharp turnaround from what the midfielder and the team experienced last season and it’s testament to Callum’s resolve and determination.
There were so many players who could have taken home the Celtic player of the year award on Sunday evening, but it was only right our captain walked away with the accolade.
The Celtic captain not only had big boots to fill but he also had to help oversee a massive turnover in the changing room, helping to bed in our new players and make them feel part of the team.
Any Celtic player I’ve personally spoken with this season has had so much praise for the captain and the new bhoys revealed everyone of them had contact from Cal before their first day at Lennoxtown.
He learned under Scott Brown and he’s gone about executing his own style and own ideas of what a captain should be. Bringing the bhoys together in the middle of the park both in victory and defeat to rally the side to keep staying the course.
When things weren’t going well, he was always the man who came out and spoke to the media. Protecting other players from a media grilling and taking it on the chin.
Cal got the recognition he deserved at the player of the year awards and the standing ovation followed by singing his name from the supporter’s in attendance was great to see. Have a watch:
We still have to wrap up this title, Celtic welcome Hearts to town on Saturday knowing a win will effectively win them the title.
