Celtic FC Women bounced back from their previous defeat to Glasgow City in SWPL1 last Sunday by clinching a vital win against Hibernian to maintain their bid to qualify for next season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Having fallen six points behind league leaders Glasgow City, Fran Alonso’s team knew that they had to win this match to keep their hopes alive.

Amy Gallacher broke the deadlock just nine minutes into the game, taking advantage of a loose ball in the box from a corner kick. Caitlin Hayes doubled Celtic’s advantage in the 36th minute with a header from another set-piece. In the second half, Celtic dominated the game, and Hibs failed to pose much of a threat.

With this win, Celtic remain in second place, one point ahead of their rivals, Rangers. The Ghirls will have to keep up their winning momentum as they head into crucial games in the weeks ahead.

As the season enters its decisive phase with only ten games left to play, there is no margin for error for Celtic FC Women. Their main rivals, Glasgow City and Rangers, have proven themselves capable of putting together impressive unbeaten and winning streaks, leaving no room for error. With the title race heating up, every single match is a must-win for Fran Alonso’s side, who must maintain a flawless record to keep their hopes of lifting the trophy alive.

Get along to support the ghirls as they head into the split!
