It was almost haunting as Celtic Park played You’ll Never Walk Alone this morning inside an empty stadium. I’ve been going to games for 25 years and this was a new even for me to watch.

The beloved Celtic anthem was played in radio stations up and down the UK and across Europe as a show of solidarity during these uncertain times.

With no football coming our way in the coming weeks and months as we get prepared to settle into a period where we have to change the way we live our lives – the song gave us goosebumps, without 60,000 Celts.

It was nice to see so many people participating in this. It’s a shame Clyde One in Glasgow chose to ignore it.

Anyway!

Hopefully, in due course, that anthem is echoing around Celtic Park again in front of a sold out crowd.

When the bhoys do come back, you’ll be certain it will be in front of a massive crowd.

  1. Doris Day never ever sang it in Paradise. Wee Gerry did at both Uefa Cup games in the meetings between Celtic and Liverpool. I still remember wee Gerry singing his lungs out then 60.000 supporters waving flags and scarfs joined in with him. Great atmosphere, everybody sung their lungs out. And then Celtic were victorious.
