Top Celtic Target Alexandro Bernabei has been sent off for his current side Lanus after squaring up to an opposition player.

The left back had been missing for his team for the last five matches but was brought back into the fold on Sunday evening.

He’s now received his marching orders in what could be his final game for the club if the 21-year-old makes the move to Glasgow, which is looking increasingly likely. [Football Scotland]

The defender has been sent off for violent conduct. Effectively, he’s head butted a player, while minimal and the player has made a meal of the aftermath, Alexandro has put himself in a position to be sent off.

If Bernabei is on his way in the next couple of weeks, he will have to bottle that kind of stuff in a Celtic jersey.

We want to see passionate players who care, but we don’t want loose cannons when the margin for error is very low.

Ange needs players he can rely on and while Alexandro’s link to Celtic is being hailed as an astute piece of scouting, the manager must take the player’s temperament into things.

The bhoy has a lot of talent and I’m sure if he does make it to Lennoxtown, we’ll see a different side of him than this.

  1. Not the type of mentality we need in our team tbh!

If he’s going to be baited so easily into reacting like that, he’ll be an easy target in Scottish football for opposition players, and referees!

Who knows what was said, though his opponent did have a few goes at him, hands all over his face with a few choice words thrown in!

A craftier player would probably have taken the dive himself on having his opponent raise their hands to his face (but then we’d be talking about that instead!), a mature player would’ve walked away, which he almost did; whatever was said to him clearly touched a nerve!?

South American football is notoriously dirty relative to our own game, though even that type of reaction is clearly OTT!
