CELTIC could have a top prospect on their hands for next season and beyond if Leo Hjelde continues to develop up in Dingwall.

The Norwegian under 17 has played at centre-back this season for the Staggies and once at left-back. Today he scored his first senior goal which proved pivotal for his loan side as they went onto win the game 3-2.

Check out the goal below.

Leo could find himself in the first team squad next season with Celtic likely to give youth a chance as they rebuild the squad. The defender has a big upside and could follow a similar path to Kristoffer Ajer who had a successful loan period at Kilmarnock before making the breakthrough at Celtic.

It’s imperative the Hoops utilise their top young players and develop them into first team players.

It’s something that’s been lacking in recent times; Neil Lennon was heavily criticised for not giving the young players a chance and ultimately letting them leave to seek game time elsewhere. Not every player in our youth system is going to be good enough to make the first team but the strike rate has to become better.
