Alan Power finally got a red for lunging at a Celtic player. The former Killie man has previous for going in recklessly on Celtic players and NOT being sent off was given his marching orders today for St Mirren at Celtic Park.
The home side were in ridiculously good form and the St Mirren side couldn’t get near Ange Postecoglou’s side. As Celtic turned the screw, David Turnbull found himself on the wing and taking the ball forward when he was flattered by Power.

It’s a shocker and a straight red — for once the referee got it spot on. There have been a few challenges already this season that have gone unpunished or not punished significantly — Power got what he deserved. To be honest, if Turnbull doesn’t move there, he’s in deep trouble of a bad break.
St Mirren players were raging at the decision — I can only suggest they look at this again.
Power is always good for a red card. He has not the talent so he goes after the better player.
It’s about time a referee sent Power off for a shocking tackle on a Celtic player as he’s got previous for it. I remember a shocking tackle on Frimpong at Rugby Park that he done well to still have a career after, never mind get up from. The thug always comes out in a player who can’t get near the ball in a fair manner.
The thing that really annoys me is the narrative will be that we only won because he was sent off, when nothing could be further from the truth. The St Mirren players must’ve felt like they’d just got off the Waltzer because our play had their heads birling at times today a totally dominant performance from start to finish. With Turnbull playing the quarterback role the rest of the side ably backed him up. A special mention for Liel Abada who at 19 is showing maturity beyond his years and he was narrowly pipped to motm by the aformentioned Turnbull. If this is us at the start of the Ange plan it could be frightening how could we could become. Hang on to your hats troops it’s going to be great ride.
When Power was at Kilmarnock he scythed Jeremie Frimpong, who had to be stretchered off but got away without punishment if I remember, he didn’t this time.
