Celtic women won the Scottish Cup on Sunday at Hampden against their bitter rivals Rangers to retain the trophy.
They picked themselves up from the disappointment of losing the league in the final minutes of the season last week to grab well earned silverware. Goals from Flint and O’Riordan put The Rangers out of their misery on the day.
Fran Alonso, the Celtic women’s manager, was as passionate as ever on the touchline throughout the match and his jubilation was there for all to see at full time.
The Spaniard has become a cult figure at Celtic with his trademark white jacket and wearing his heart on his sleeve.
During his post-match interview with CelticTV, the manager went hilariously off script to start singing the much famed ‘CELTIC, GLASGOW’ chant into the camera.
It was a brilliant moment.
The Ghirls deserved their win and day at Hampden. They were so close to the league title, however, they did qualify for the Champions League. A new adventure begins next season.
