Neil Lennon put out an alternative Celtic team last night which didn’t work in terms of the performance fans have been used to watching this season in Europe. Lennon had nothing to lose apart from the game itself.

With six games to be played in seventeen days, the manager made the right call with his team selection. As Celtic face off against Hibs, Hearts, Aberdeen and Rangers this month at least the Celtic manager knows some of his big hitters are rested.

The Irishman still feels there was plenty of positives to take from last nights defeat.

It is not clear if anything new was learned from last night’s game in Romania. In fact, it probably just proved that most of the fringe players are fringe players with good reason. Craig Gordon made some good saves but he is never going to dislodge Fraser Forster with the form he has been in.

It is hard to see anyone who played last night dislodging any of the regular starters from this season. Next up is Hibs at Easter Road.
