Luca Connell got his first assist in his first game for Queens Park yesterday as he grabbed man of the match in a 3-0 victory over Stranraer.

His assist came from a free kick and it was a perfectly weighted ball into the box.

Luca is yet to make his first team debut for Celtic but at least he’s getting games in his legs after two years of toiling in a poor reserves system.

The young midfielder had many admirers at Bolton and Celtic were praised for signing him when Neil Lennon took charge of the side on a permanent basis. However, the Irishman never used or looked closed to using Connel.

Hopefully he impresses enough that when a new manager does come in, he’ll get a proper shot at it.

Until then, if he can keep putting man of the match performances for his loan side and help them to promotions
