Leigh Griffiths felt the need to come out yesterday and respond to some horrible nasty messages his mother and son were subjected to online while the player took time out of football to do some work on himself.

One of the main chants shamefully sung by some people bragged that Leigh would not play football again. This is probably the perfect response to those haters.

Griffiths comeback with his first start at Celtic Park was done with a bang as he buried his freekick into the top corner in true Leigh Griffiths fashion. His goal could have been his second of the night, earlier he had a header on target but it came of Kris Ajer for the defender to claim as his own.

Ryan Christie got Celtic’s second goal from the penalty spot, some fans perhaps surprised not to see their number placing the ball on the spot. The striker’s corner taking has also been a welcome addition to proceedings, Celtic struggled last season from corners but looked a threat once more with super Leigh swinging the ball into the danger area.
