Celtic got their new year off to a winning start in the Scottish Cup with a 1-2 derby win at Partick Thistle. Neil Lennon quite rightly pointed out that his team deserved a more flattering scoreline at full-time.

As was expected the Bhoys dominated play especially in the first half when Thistle couldn’t get near Celtic and spent 45 mins chasing the ball. Maybe there was some rust in the team after three weeks without competitive football.

The Celts should have left the game with a clean sheet only for a late penalty that was giving against Jeremie Frimpong. The defender’s manager was not happy with the decision and the player should have had a penalty in the first half after he was pushed over in the box. Neil Lennon said he and his backroom team were not happy with the ref’s decision at all.

Here is the full post-match interview.

With less than two weeks left to go in the transfer market will the Celtic manager bring in many more players in a quest for nine-in-a-row and the possibility of a fourth treble-winning season?
