It was a disappointing night for Ireland in the end with the country going out of the Euro qualifiers to Slovakia in the end.

However, it might not have even got to penalties had it not been for the heroics of Shane Duffy on the night.

The Celtic star and Ireland captain kept His country in the game with a clearance off the line which looked a certain goal.

The big defender sniffed out the danger and got back to the goal line as soon as possible when he saw his goalkeeper had no longer got his angles covered.

Duffy has had a good start to his Celtic career but there’s more to come from the Irishman.

It will be a disappointing end to the Euro campaign for him but he mustn’t sulk. Instead, he will take part in his first ever Glasgow derby a week on Saturday.

There has been a Covid scare in the Ireland camp with a physio testing positive – to this point – we understand this hasn’t affected Duffy.
