It was a surreal moment at Celtic Park as The President of Albania ILIR META watched on from the stand for the first-ever time this afternoon as Celtic grabbed three points in the Europa League .

The politician made the trip to watch the Bhoys after falling in love with the team and regularly posting on his social media while watching the matches. It’s incredible to think he’s taken time out running a country to come and watch Celtic.

Before the match president Meta joined in singing You’ll Never Walk Alone.

After Kyogo’s opening goal, the president was filmed celebrating. This is the first time he has witnessed the Parkhead roar after a goal in a European tie.

He then celebrated Turnbull’s goal, although this was marked down as an own goal by UEFA.

Hopefully, the Hoops impressed the politician and we can welcome him back to Celtic Park soon.

Throughout the day Celtic fans had been meeting the special guest and many had their photos taken with him. Did you bump into Ilir Meta today?
