The full time scenes from Celtic on Friday night after qualifying for the Europa League group stages were hugely encouraging.

The bhoys had to weather the storm and ride their luck at times but there three goals they scored over the two legs was enough to see them through.

It was our own defensive mistakes that allowed Alkmaar to get back into the tie – something we must cut out to progress.

However, every single one of those players put in an energy zapping performance against Alkmaar on the night. At the end of the game, the Premier Sports cameras showed how much it meant to the team but more importantly – it showed the togetherness of this side.

In particular – watching Joe Hart go around the younger lads and celebrate not only shows our togetherness but confirms we have another locker room leader.

Cal Mac is the captain but Joe will certainly be of help this year.

The hoops are in the draw for the Europa League this afternoon. There are so many competitive teams in the competition, whoever we get will be hard work.

  1. Just shows you what a little self belief can do for a team. Hope the run in Europe reflects on league retention and cups too. Remember, No Excuses. Well done to everyone. Now the hard work really begins.

  2. This playing across the 18 yd line is suicidal please Ange put an end to it The opposition are ready to pounce every time good system at Paradise but woeful to watch away from home clear the ball every time and protect what you have last night was a nightmare to watch.
