Two former Celtic players combined to score the winner for New York Red Bulls on Saturday evening.

Andrew Gutman capitalised on a mistake by Inter Miami to feed former Celtic striker Patryk Klimala who didn’t need a second invitation.

Gutman was under contract at Celtic but as part of a failed scheme to bring in talent from the US and loan them out until they could get a work permit.

The best way of getting there would be for the player to earn International caps for the USA but they never came while Gutman was under contact with the Hoops. He was eventually released from his deal and signed with New York Red Bulls.

Klimala was signed by the American outfit earlier this year – Celtic managing to recoup the money they paid for the Polish frontman. Klimala didn’t look the part at Celtic and was never going to get past Odsonne Edouard for game time.

There was another two former Celtic players on the field. Cameron Harper came off the bench for New York while Lewis Morgan stared the game for Inter Miami.
