If you were wondering why Celtic youngster Ben Doak looks to be closing in on a move to Liverpool then wonder no more.

This is Ben’s assist for the Scotland under 17s this week. The Celtic youngsters shows his ability on the ball and distribution during the game against the Czech Republic.

Ben has yet to sign his first professional deal and it looks increasingly likely it will be with Liverpool and not his boyhood heroes. [The Athletic]

The player has a wealth of talent and will no doubt being a divided by his family on what his next move should be.

It’s hard to fault young players who have their heads turned early on. Football careers are very short and a bad injury could change everything.

There’s no doubt Liverpool can offer Ben more money and a better facilities to work in. However, Ange has already handed the youngster his first team debut. It’s clear his development from reserves to first team would be expedited at Celtic but even then there’s no guarantees.

Ultimately, the player has to do what’s best for him. It’s clear to see why Liverpool have opened talks with Ben.
