NEIL LENNON was asked to address the comments by Steven Gerrard that the Ibrox club deserved their position in the table and they were the team to beat when he spoke before the international break.

Having just watched his side smash six past Ross County at Celtic Park – the Irishman was quite happy to call the Ibrox boss out on his boast.

Asked if he would ‘quibble’ over the comment Neil Lennon replied: “Yeah I’d quibble with that. We’ve had five away games and three at home.” Lennon told SunSport.

“I’m always going to quibble with a comment like that.”

The Celtic manager pointing out Gerrard’s men haven’t hit the road properly yet and perhaps he should keep his boasts to a minimum.

Low and behold, the first real away test against a troubled Hearts side at Tynecastle through up a draw for Gerrard and his men and as a result Celtic have gone back to the top of the SPFL.

Nothing is won or lost in October and people need to remember that. Celtic have won the last eight titles on the bounce yet even they don’t come out with the sort of nonsense which seems to be par for the course over at Ibrox. A confidence built on a shaky foundation.

Vindicated indeed.
