Celtic target Vinicius Souza is reportedly narrowing down his options ahead of a likely summer move.

Celtic has been linked to the midfielder for a few weeks now, looking to fill the void left by Bitton and Rogic’s departures.

Now, as decision time is looming for the Brazilian, he’s decided he won’t return to Belgium. He played his football in the country last season but has opted against returning for a second. [ The Sun ]

This expells Club Brugge from the race, with Celtic left to fight against Ajax, Benfica and Bologna.

Celtic’s Tricky Task at Hand

Souza won’t be leaving Lommel on the cheap, with an asking price reportedly set at £8 million. It’s quite a steep price considering Celtic has just spent big, bringing Carter-Vickers, Bernabei and Jota to the club, and paying £2 million for Maeda.

However, Lommel doesn’t want to sell the player, preferring to send him out on loan. This gives Celtic a boost in their chances of signing the player. Also boosting the Hoops is their strong relationship with the City group, with Souza a plater for the organisation.

  1. We done alright on loan players we signed three loan players this season so get him on loan with a buy clause the fans will do the rest must say four five year contracts for new signing is great if your buying quality players yourgot the upper hand for three seasons transfers have chaged since peter lawell who i thought done a great job for dermit who payed him his contracts were to short three years not enough he made really good signing but some risky ones could be managers fault still didnt think lennon had much say in transfers tried celtic buy them you coach them what didnt work.Everything going really well champion league and managers gift of gab has brought some furst team players plus young hopefulls who should be pushing for first team players let not forget we are a selling ckub and have a lot of saleable players in our pool no way will celtic board and c o allow contracts run down 2 years on contract sign new one or you have put your self on the market after contract passes less than 18 months player or there agent has the upper hand

  2. Have to say this has been best summer buying i can remember board actually backing the gaffer & not wasting time get them in early for pre-season get them hooked on celtic …..shame where’s dave king with his predictions that celtic woul collapse for ever when his club where back on top, hiding out in darkest africa hiding lol!!

  3. Hopefully we do sign an enforcer type player like a Scott Brown if Souza is that guy then am all for it but question marks will be raised as he apparently he doesn’t rate Scottish football and if we are only is 4th or 5th choice to him Ange always wants players to feel it’s a privilege to play for us so not sure how this will pan out ? Then there’s the issue of a another CB as Julien has clearly is not in Ange’s plan this yr and we only have Steven Welsh & ex Sheffield boy & Boswal Lawal as cover we clearly need a left sided CB which am sure Ange is looking I am a bit surprised we have stopped our interest in Itakura thought he’d be the very guy we are looking for??🤔still we trust in Ange am sure he’s got a couple more tarkets up his sleeve hail hail🍀🏆🏆🏆
