STEVEN MacLean won’t be laughing this afternoon as the player is served with a notice of complaint from the compliance officer for grabbing Eboue Kouassi during the semi-final tie on Sunday.

The complaint reads:

Fast Track Notice of Complaint | Steven MacLean, Player, Heart of Midlothian FC
Tuesday 30 October 2018
Fast Track Notice of Complaint | Steven MacLean, Player, Heart of Midlothian FC

Player: Steven MacLean, Player, Heart of Midlothian FC

Match: Heart of Midlothian FC v Celtic FC, 28 October 2018

Competition: Scottish League Cup

Disciplinary Rule allegedly breached: Disciplinary Rule 200 : Where any one of the sending off offences of (A1) serious foul play, (A2) violent conduct, and (A3) spitting at an opponent or other person is committed by a player at a match, but that sending off offence was not seen by any of the match officials at the time that it was committed the mandatory suspension for that sending off offence as provided for in Annex C of the Judicial Panel Protocol shall be applied to the player.

Any Fast Track Notice of Complaint alleging a breach of this Rule shall be determined by a Fast Track Tribunal subject to the provisions of Section 13.

Fast Track Tribunal Hearing: Thursday 1 November 2018

The player can either accept a two-match ban or appeal the decision at a hearing on Thursday morning.

MacLean tried to laugh off the incident after the game on Sunday, labelling it ‘no big deal’.

The TV footage is quite conclusive and if Hearts are to try and appeal the decision they would have to try and pass it off as a jovial act on MacLean’s part.

However, grabbing someone’s private area during a match, on purpose will not be tolerated.
